Terrorists Attack Kebbi Mosque, Killing Five Worshippers

On Wednesday night, a terrorist attack targeted a mosque in the Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of five worshippers and injuries to three others. The incident occurred during Taraweeh prayers.

The attack was reportedly linked to a failed ambush on the convoy of Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, which took place on February 24. The convoy was ambushed by armed terrorists believed to be members of the Lakurawa group while navigating forest terrain near Mayama Hill.

Troops responded with superior firepower, engaging in a fierce gun duel that resulted in the neutralization of five attackers. The attack has raised concerns regarding security in Kebbi State, particularly in rural areas vulnerable to reprisals from armed groups.

The injured individuals were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
