Terrorists Kill Two, Kidnap Seven on Niger Road

On Sunday evening, terrorists blocked the Mokwa-New Bussa Road in Borgu LGA, Niger State, resulting in the deaths of two travelers and the kidnapping of seven others. This attack occurred five hours after security agencies met with officials from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to urge members to end a three-day protest concerning rampant kidnappings and killings by bandits on the same road.

A commercial driver reported that the first vehicle leaving Mokwa after the protest was intercepted between Ibbi and Felegi. Drivers expressed urgent concerns over the need for enhanced security measures, citing the loss of three drivers and frequent attacks by bandits.

Abdulrahman Mustapha, a driver, noted that bandits often fire upon moving vehicles without stopping them. The Niger State Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, mentioned that the road had been reopened following military intervention but had not received reports of the recent kidnappings.
