Nine Bodies Recovered in Niger State Bandit Attack

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the recovery of nine bodies on the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, suspected to have been killed by bandits while traveling. The police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, reported that a team of police and military personnel was dispatched to evacuate the bodies after receiving information on Tuesday.

He stated that clearance operations have been intensified to secure the area from further security threats. This incident occurred just days after security agencies rescued 308 individuals who had been abducted in separate attacks across Kwara and Niger states.

Among those rescued, 163 were taken from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 were kidnapped in Niger State. The victims were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa during a coordinated operation involving the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.
