Terrorists Ambush in Kebbi: 9 Soldiers, 1 Officer Killed

On Tuesday night, at least nine soldiers and one police officer were killed in an ambush by suspected terrorists in the Lakurawa area of Shanga Local Government, Kebbi State. The security personnel were reportedly on a mission to monitor and curb insurgent activities in the region when their vehicle was attacked.

Following the incident, Governor Nasir Idris visited the wounded survivors at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Birnin Kebbi and condemned the attack as barbaric. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the safety of Kebbi's residents, noting the tragic loss of soldiers dedicated to protecting lives.

The governor also stated that the state government would cover medical expenses for the injured and provide support to the families of the deceased. In response to the growing influx of terrorist groups in the area, a state security team has been deployed to counter these threats.

The extremist group involved is believed to be linked to Sahelian insurgents from Mali and Niger.
