Terrorists Kill 30 in Zamfara Highway Ambush

On a Sunday, terrorists launched a deadly ambush on the Magami–Dansadau highway in Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals, comprising 21 civilians and 8 local hunters. The incident was confirmed by Malam Abubakar Gummi, who stated that the attackers targeted motorists traveling along this route.

Following the ambush, security operatives engaged in a gun duel with the bandits, leading to some of the assailants being neutralized, although the exact number of militant casualties was not disclosed. The Magami–Dansadau highway has been a long-standing flashpoint for banditry in Zamfara South, with frequent attacks affecting farmers and traders despite ongoing military operations in the area.

Victims' bodies were recovered and taken to a nearby health facility, where survivors are currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the attack. As of the time of reporting, the Zamfara State Government had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
