Terrorists Kill Forest Guard Commander in Kwara Attack

On April 7, 2023, terrorists launched an attack on Nuku Community in Kaima Local Government Area, Kwara State, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including the Forest Guard Commander and five other members. The assailants destroyed motorcycles, burned down several buildings, and set community patrol vehicles ablaze, causing panic among residents who fled in search of safety.

Senior police officials from the Kaiama Division confirmed the incident and advised residents to remain calm. In response, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and commended the bravery of the Forest Guard members who attempted to neutralize the attackers.

He highlighted the ongoing threat posed by terrorists and urged the military high command to adjust strategies in combating these threats. The governor also announced the formation of the Kwara State Security Strategy Committee, which includes retired military generals and security officials, to address security challenges in the state.
