Nigerian Troops Intensify Operations Against Terrorists

On Wednesday, Defence Minister Gen Christoph Musa announced that Nigerian troops are intensifying military operations against terrorist groups, leading to significant losses for the insurgents. During a strategic meeting in Abuja, Musa assured that the military remains committed to restoring peace and security nationwide.

He acknowledged recent military casualties but emphasized that terrorists have suffered greater losses. Musa urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by misinformation circulating on social media, which he noted undermines troop morale.

He called for citizens to support security agencies by providing credible information about suspicious activities. Musa also congratulated the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and expressed confidence in the military's ability to overcome security challenges.

Recent coordinated assaults by terrorists on military bases in Katsina State resulted in the deaths of soldiers, including two reported fatalities during an attack led by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
