TETFund's Sonni Echono Named Aljazirah's Personality of the Year

Sonni Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), was honored with the Personality of the Year award by Aljazirah Nigeria during a brief ceremony in Abuja on Friday. This recognition comes as a result of his significant contributions to transforming Nigeria's tertiary education sector through transparent stewardship and effective management of the fund.

Dr. Etuka Bassei, representing Aljazirah, praised Echono's tenure, highlighting the ambitious reforms and projects initiated under his leadership, including the expansion of the National Research Fund and efforts to enhance Nigeria's academic research platform.

An extensive investigation into Echono's conduct found no evidence of misconduct, reinforcing the integrity of his leadership. In response to the award, Echono expressed gratitude and acknowledged the support from President Bola Tinubu's administration, which has facilitated substantial funding for educational initiatives.

He emphasized his commitment to improving campus facilities and equipping Nigerian youth with skills for the future.
