TETFund Launches Advisory Committee for Research Labs

On Tuesday, TETFund inaugurated a seven-member advisory committee in Abuja to guide the establishment of multipurpose research laboratories in tertiary institutions across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. The committee, chaired by Chri Maiyaki, was introduced by Arch Sonni Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund.

The committee has one month to provide strategic directions on laboratory design, equipment specifications, deployment, and management to achieve optimal results. This initiative is part of the current administration's legacy to build a research culture and support infrastructure that will transform Nigeria's capacity to compete globally.

The committee is tasked with reviewing and updating the proposed equipment list for the laboratories, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective procurement. Additionally, they will assess the adequacy of the management framework and recommend partnerships with industry for revenue generation.

Echono emphasized the importance of continuous review due to rapid technological advancements, stating that sustainable economic growth relies on innovative, research-driven solutions supported by adequate infrastructure.
