TETFund Labs Poised To End Costly Sample Exports

TETFund Labs are set to revolutionize research in Nigeria by ending the costly practice of sending samples abroad for analysis. The Tertiary Education Trust Fund plans to establish six multidisciplinary research laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technology across the country.

This initiative aims to support various research fields under one roof, eliminating the need for researchers to rely on foreign laboratories. The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc Sonny Echono, highlighted the importance of equipping Nigerian tertiary institutions with world-class research facilities to enhance global competitiveness in science and technology.

The construction of four laboratories is already underway, with the goal of operationalizing them within the next 18 to 24 months. This initiative is part of a broader effort to transform the physical and intellectual landscape of Nigerian campuses, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the academic community.
