TETFund to Bar Institutions with Delayed Projects from 2027

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has issued a warning to beneficiary institutions that those with delayed intervention projects will not be permitted to initiate new projects under the 2027 allocation. This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Rt.

Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, as part of measures to tackle the issue of abandoned and delayed projects in tertiary institutions.

Mr. Abdulmumin Oniyangi, Director of Public Affairs at TETFund, conveyed this information in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Masari acknowledged challenges such as rising construction material costs but noted that a dedicated intervention line introduced in 2023 has helped complete many stalled projects. He pointed out that issues like lack of continuity in project implementation and delays in contractor payments contribute to ongoing problems.

Institutions are now required to compile lists of overdue projects, prioritize them, and establish project supervision teams. The BoT has mandated that no new projects will be accepted from institutions with outstanding projects for the 2027 Intervention Cycle.
