Fire Destroys Textile Shops in Lagos Early Saturday

A significant fire outbreak occurred early Saturday morning, around 3:15 AM, in a three-storey commercial building on Oyabiyi Street, opposite the NLC office in Tejuosho, Yaba, Lagos. The blaze engulfed shops stocked with textile materials.

The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service, led by General Margaret Adesey, reported that firefighting teams from Somolu, Ilupeju, and Sari Iganmu stations were swiftly deployed to the scene. Their prompt response was crucial in containing the fire and preventing its spread to adjacent buildings.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties. This incident is part of two separate overnight fire outbreaks recorded across Lagos State, including one affecting an aluminum tower at Dopemu Agege.

The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service emphasized the importance of fire safety measures, urging residents and business operators in commercial areas to remain vigilant and prioritize fire safety precautions. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
