Thai Police Find N67m in Nigerian's Bathroom Ceiling

On a Saturday night raid, Thai police arrested Nigerian national Nwaiwu Ifeanyi, a 46-year-old accused of supplying cocaine for sale in the capital. During the operation, police discovered 1.5 million baht (approximately N67 million) hidden in the ceiling of Ifeanyi's bathroom.

The raid, reported by Bangkok-based outlet Khaosod English, led to the arrest of three other suspects linked to the drug trafficking ring, including Swiss national Thoma Giubibini and two Thai men, Thanayot Asawamethi (35) and Nattawat Wangkitjinda (34). Police seized approximately 30 grams of cocaine and 1.5 million baht in cash, along with foreign currency worth 15,000 baht and jewelry valued at 400,000 baht.

Ifeanyi has been living in Thailand on a family visa for 17 years, allegedly using a sham marriage to provide legal cover for his activities. He was previously arrested in March 2025 for selling cocaine to undercover officers but failed to appear in court for his trial.
