Thai Teenager Kills Seven in School Shooting Spree

A tragic shooting incident occurred in Thailand, where a 14-year-old male teenager killed seven individuals, including his grandparents and five staff members of Debsirin Nonthaburi School. The shooting took place on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok, with the gunman firing at least 26 bullets from a firearm that belonged to his grandfather.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed his sorrow over the incident, noting the gunman had been experiencing stress related to his studies. Emergency worker Kiatikhun Verapongpradith reported that the gunman shot himself in the head after the attack.

Witnesses described the chaos, with one student initially mistaking the gunfire for firecrackers. This incident marks the second school shooting in Thailand in 2023, following a previous event in February.

The police have not confirmed whether the firearm used was illegal, despite strict laws against illegal possession of arms, which can lead to imprisonment of up to 10 years.
