The Bauchi State Police Command reported an incident involving the accidental shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Gamawa Local Government Area. The boy allegedly pulled the trigger of a loaded Dane gun, resulting in his death.
SP Nafiu Habib, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday. In a separate event, the police foiled an armed robbery attempt on Kajala-Kere Road on September 5, 2026, at approximately 9:45 PM.
Hoodlums armed with cutlasses and sticks blocked the road and robbed four residents of Kere village, stealing two Bajaj motorcycles, two Android phones, and a power bank. Following the report, a combined team of policemen from the Burra Division and local vigilantes was deployed to the scene.
Upon sighting the police, the robbers abandoned the stolen motorcycles and fled. The police recovered the motorcycles and initiated a search for the suspects.
