ADC Aspirant Calls Wike's Claim Blasphemy in Rivers Politics

Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, a governorship aspirant from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, responded to comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, on February 3, 2026.

Wike stated that he would announce his preferred candidate for the governorship ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming that this individual would succeed the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara. In an interview with Arise News, Nwibubasa condemned Wike's assertion, labeling it as blasphemy and emphasizing that power is ultimately God's domain.

He criticized Governor Fubara for his indecisiveness and urged the people of Rivers State to be proactive in voting out ineffective leaders, stressing the need for a change to liberate the state from poor governance.
