In Ogun State, the political dynamics surrounding the 2027 governorship election are increasingly influenced by lineage politics. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship consensus candidate, faced a smear campaign questioning his ancestry during a recent event in Kemta, Abeokuta.

Opponents, including Ibrahim Afolabi, have shifted focus from policy discussions to Adeola's familial background, alleging inconsistencies in his lineage. Adeola has publicly addressed these concerns, asserting that the public has a right to know the backgrounds of those aspiring to occupy high political offices.
