Ethiopian Airlines Celebrates 80 Years in Nigeria's Market

Ethiopian Airlines, represented by Area Manager Firiehiwot Mekonnen, celebrated its 80th anniversary in Nigeria, emphasizing the airline's significant role in the competitive Nigerian air travel market. Nigeria is recognized as the largest market for air travel in Africa, with 99% of international travelers being Nigerian citizens.

Ethiopian Airlines has operated in Nigeria for 65 years and currently offers 38 weekly flights, increasing from 24, with 50 to 60 cargo flights weekly. Mekonnen noted the airline's commitment to modern equipment and excellent customer service as critical factors for its success.

She acknowledged challenges such as infrastructure limitations and currency issues but expressed optimism about growth through partnerships. The airline has also supported Gulf carriers during the Iran war, showcasing collaboration among African airlines.
