APC Chieftain Dismisses Impeachment Plot Against River State Governor Fubara

A senior chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted speculations about a planned impeachment of River State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, asserting the party's commitment to governance over political confrontations. The chieftain highlighted the importance of stability and good governance within the party.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings are unfolding at the Oyigbo High Court in River State, where a suit filed by Governor Fubara's deputy, Ngozi Odu, challenges the impeachment process initiated by the River State House of Assembly. The case has been adjourned by Justice Florence Fiberesima pending two separate appeals related to the matter.

During the court proceedings, counsel for the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhul, and 27 lawmakers made an oral application to stay the proceedings, which was not opposed by the claimant's counsel, Paul Orikoro, or the defense represented by Victor Oko Jumbo and others.
