Wike Asserts Unity in PDP Ahead of National Convention

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Wednesday that there is only one People's Democratic Party (PDP) and dismissed the existence of separate factions within the party. Speaking to journalists while inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja, Wike noted that dissatisfaction among individuals is not unusual and that discussions regarding reconciliation are ongoing as the PDP prepares for its national convention on March 29-30.

He clarified that holding the convention does not preclude reconciliation efforts, emphasizing that the convention will proceed on its own timeline. Wike expressed that it would be incorrect to suggest the existence of separate camps within the PDP, stating he was unaware of any such factions.

He also pointed out that the party's primary elections are scheduled to commence between April 23 and May 13, in accordance with the Electoral Act and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission, leaving little room for delays.
