Sowore Critiques Opposition Coalition, Backs Yesufu for Senate

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, criticized the opposition coalition in Nigeria during an interview on May 11, stating that it consists of individuals merely interested in power. He expressed his support for fellow activist Aisha Yesufu, who is contesting for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat in the 2027 elections.

Sowore urged Yesufu to consider joining his party rather than the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), which she reportedly joined after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He emphasized that people should contribute meaningfully to governance rather than waiting for political reports.

Sowore's comments reflect his belief that political participation is essential for social change, despite his disagreement with Yesufu's choice of party. He hopes she will succeed in her Senate race, indicating a desire for activists to engage in the political process.
