Beautiful Nubia Accuses Yinka Ayefele of Copyright Theft

Folk musician Beautiful Nubia, whose real name is Segun Akinlolu, has publicly accused gospel artists Yinka Ayefele and BBO of copyright infringement. He claims that they used the melody from his song "Seven Life" without his permission, which he asserts borrows elements from his 2012 song "Faith God (Igbagbo Ireti)." Nubia highlighted this issue in a post on social media, questioning the respect for copyright among gospel musicians in Nigeria.

The allegations come as BBO is set to release their track "Amin" in 2026, which Nubia suggests incorporates aspects of his earlier work. As of now, neither Yinka Ayefele nor BBO has publicly responded to the allegations made by Beautiful Nubia.

Beautiful Nubia is recognized for his contributions to Nigerian folk music, having released his first album in 1997 and founded the Eniobank Music Festival to celebrate folk roots music.
