Otti Confirms EFCC Probe into ₦10bn Airport Project

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has confirmed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating his predecessor, Okezie Ikpeazu, over a controversial ₦10 billion airport project, which Otti claims does not physically exist. During a monthly media briefing in Umuahia on a Friday night, Otti dismissed reports suggesting that the investigation had been abandoned, stating that the EFCC's work on the "audio airport" project continues.

He asserted that anyone found culpable in the misuse of state resources will face consequences. Otti also issued directives to commence the reconstruction of the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpen federal road, which has seen no progress since its official flag-off.

Additionally, he announced plans for dredging the Aba River to support environmental tourism initiatives and warned factories against dumping industrial waste into the river. Otti revealed that the state government owns 80 percent equity in the Enyimba Hotel, which is part of a broader tourism strategy.
