Primate Ayodele Critiques Bishops Endorsing Tinubu

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, criticized Nigerian bishops who endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, alleging that their endorsement was motivated by personal interests rather than divine direction. In a statement released on Friday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele claimed that the bishops were "hungry" and seeking personal benefits, rather than genuinely supporting Tinubu.

He warned that their endorsement would not guarantee Tinubu's re-election in 2027, emphasizing that endorsements are meaningless without tangible performance. Ayodele also extended his criticism to politicians endorsing Tinubu, asserting that many were driven by self-interest and could easily switch allegiance if their expectations were unmet.

His comments followed the endorsement by the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, announced by President-General Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas during the organization's 2026 synod, where he praised Tinubu's inclusive approach to appointments and support for Christian governors.
