Bus Accident in Oyo: Three Dead, Five Rescued

On Wednesday, a commercial bus lost control and plunged into the Oyo River along Amunloko Road in the Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State. The Oyo State Fire Service Agency received a distress call at 3:38 PM from a resident named Fadek Yusuf, reporting the incident.

Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered that the bus, a Suzuki with the number plate Osun LEW 484 XA, was carrying eight passengers. Five individuals were rescued and rushed to a private hospital in Jeged for treatment.

Unfortunately, three bodies were recovered from the river. The rescue operations were confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde.

Moroof Akinwand, the chairman of the fire service agency, attributed the accident to reckless driving, as stated by ASP Aishat Ibrahim from the Ogber Division Headquarters. Glorious Temitop, the Ona Ara Local Government Chairman, urged motorists to drive cautiously and adhere to road safety rules to prevent such accidents.
