Edo Assembly Members Defect to Nigerian Democratic Congress

Three members of the Edo State House of Assembly, Chariti Aiguobarhueghian representing Ovia North East Constituency, Natasha Osawaru representing Egor Constituency, and Omosigho Frank representing Oredo East Constituency, have defected from the People's Democratic Party to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). The NDC Chairman, Babatund Olukoga, submitted a letter to the Assembly requesting that the Speaker, Bless Agbebaku, acknowledge the defections.

The letter also nominated Natasha Osawaru as the new minority leader and Omosigho Frank as the minority whip. Jonathan Ibhamawu, the major leader of the NDC, requested that the House consider the letter, stating that due process was not followed in the announcement of the defections.

The Speaker, Bless Agbebaku, was informed of the need to set the letter aside until due process is adhered to regarding the announcement of the new NDC members.
