Three Officers Dismissed Over UNIPORT Graduate's Death

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed three officers linked to the killing of Anthony Obodo, a University of Port Harcourt graduate, in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt on Thursday. The officers were involved in a patrol that flagged down Obodo's vehicle, during which Corporal Alfred Louis allegedly fired three shots, hitting Obodo and leading to his death.

The state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, announced the dismissals while parading the officers before journalists. He stated that the officers underwent an orderly room trial after being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Adepoju emphasized the command's commitment to professionalism and accountability, stating that no officer would be shielded if found guilty of misconduct. Inspector Solomon Nworgu, who was part of the patrol team but fled the scene, has been declared a deserter, with efforts ongoing to apprehend him.

The dismissed officers will face court charges following the investigation.
