Three Siblings Found Dead Near River in Akure, Ondo State

A devastating occurrence took place in Akure, Ondo State, as three young siblings were discovered lifeless near a river. Joshua Jonah and Jacob Jonah, both 11 years old, and their sister Blessing Jonah, aged five, were found in the Owena area adjacent to military barracks.

Their disappearance began on Friday, September 4, prompting a search that ultimately led to this tragic outcome. On that morning, the three children accompanied their father Samuel Jonah to a farm where he worked.

In the afternoon, they departed the farm with plans to return home before Samuel did. When Samuel arrived at his house, he found it empty of the children and quickly alerted neighbours and residents.

This sparked an urgent search operation by family and community members that persisted through the night into Saturday. The Ondo State Police Command has publicly confirmed the incident.

A police representative stated that when the children failed to arrive home, this triggered intensive search activity from family and local residents. The bodies of all three were located along the riverbank within the farm area, concluding the search in tragedy.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths. The exact sequence of events that led to the children being near the river, as well as the precise cause of death, have not been disclosed by investigators.
