Lagos Task Force Arrests Thugs for Motorist Harassment

On Thursday, Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Water Resources, announced the arrest of three suspected thugs commonly referred to as "omotaku." These individuals were accused of harassing motorists, particularly targeting drivers whose vehicles had broken down due to mechanical faults. The incidents occurred in two separate locations: Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki and along Ikorodu Road.

The Lagos State Task Force swiftly intervened, apprehending the suspects who were demanding money and phones from the victims. Wahab emphasized the agency's commitment to maintaining road safety and eliminating harassment and intimidation across Lagos.

The task force has been actively conducting operations to identify hotspots and arrest gang members, with a dedicated anti-crime patrol unit recently launched by CSP Adetayo Akerel to tackle criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
