Three Sentenced to Death for Murder of Rivers Pharmacist

On Friday, a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt sentenced three individuals—Kirine, Ilia Preciou, and Mona Sagha—to death by hanging for the murder of pharmacist Muenalo Sundai, which occurred on March 5, 2019, in the Zaakpo community of Khana Local Government Area. Justice Augusta Chukwu delivered the judgment, stating that the prosecution successfully proved the charges of conspiracy, cultism, and kidnapping beyond a reasonable doubt.

The court's evidence included confession statements and details of the victim's dismemberment, with parts of his body dumped in a pit and his severed head allegedly taken to a shrine. Additionally, Lovedai Legah, a member of a secret cult, received a life sentence for his involvement in the crime.

Chief State Counsel Prey Ordu commended the court for its thorough judgment, expressing hope for the victim's family. Pretti Neewa Sundai, the widow of the deceased, expressed relief at the verdict, emphasizing the need for justice in her husband's murder.
