US Reaffirms Morocco's Sovereignty Over Western Sahara

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day, U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed the United States' recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.

In a message to King Mohammed VI, Trump described Morocco’s autonomy plan as the only credible basis for resolving the long-standing territorial dispute. He stated, “The United States is unequivocal: We recognise Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and support Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution.” Trump emphasized the need to end the dispute and pledged continued U.S. support for Morocco.

He commended King Mohammed VI’s leadership, highlighting Morocco as a key partner in promoting regional peace and stability. Trump also announced plans to enhance economic cooperation and security collaboration in the Sahel region, directing his administration to support Morocco’s development in strategic sectors.

The message reflected the strength of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, celebrating 250 years of friendship.
