Thugs Attack PDP Chieftain, Set Car Ablaze in Benue

A disturbing incident occurred in Benue where thugs attacked a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), identified as Iortyom, around 8:30 PM. The assailants, numbering five and riding two motorcycles, blocked Iortyom's vehicle while he attempted to park and make a phone call.

Armed with a short axe, they forced him to abandon his vehicle, after which they poured fuel on his Peugeot 406 and set it on fire before fleeing the scene. The incident has been reported to the police, who are currently investigating to identify and apprehend those responsible.

In light of this violence, the PDP has called on security agencies to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further acts of violence as the 2027 general elections approach. Earlier, Iortyom had issued a statement regarding the party's efforts to reclaim political power in the state, urging stakeholders across Benue to support their initiatives.
