Thugs Disrupt ADC Rally in Rivers, Sparking Outrage

Thugs disrupted a rally organized by the ADC Young Women Forum in Rivers, specifically in Elem LGA. The disruption occurred when a group of thugs, allegedly led by a ward councillor whose name was withheld, stormed the venue, claiming that the organizers had not obtained prior approval for the event.

Ms. Atosemi Oma Uwam, the national coordinator of the ADC Young Women Forum, condemned the incident, describing it as an attempt to suppress democratic engagement and hinder political activities of opposition parties ahead of the elections.

She emphasized that the gathering was not a campaign event but rather a community meeting aimed at promoting grassroots mobilization among women. Uwam warned against such disruptions, asserting that they stifle democracy and prevent political engagement.

The ADC Young Women Forum aims to provide a platform for young women to participate in politics and advocate for gender balance within political parties.
