NBA Threatens Contempt Against Police Over Tinted Glass Permit Policy

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened contempt proceedings against the Nigeria Police Force for enforcing a new tinted glass permit policy. In a letter dated October 1, 2025, the NBA warned that taking action would amount to contempt of court as there is a pending lawsuit challenging the policy's legality.

The NBA emphasized that the Police are legally bound to maintain the status quo until the court makes a pronouncement. The NBA expressed concern over the Police Force's statement suggesting the enforcement of the policy would begin on October 2, 2025, despite the ongoing case.

Contempt committal proceedings could be initiated if the Police continue to disregard the court's authority.
