Tinubu Anxious Over Makinde's Popularity Ahead of 2027

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has stated that the recent attacks by the Federal Government on its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, indicate President Bola Tinubu's anxiety regarding Makinde's increasing popularity ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In a statement by APM's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party criticized the Tinubu administration for resorting to name-calling and personal attacks, arguing that it lacks a substantial record of achievements to present to Nigerians.

The APM believes that Makinde will defeat Tinubu in the upcoming election, citing his impressive performance as Governor of Oyo State. The statement also condemned remarks made by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, who dismissed Makinde as inconsequential.

The APM emphasized its focus on significant issues rather than engaging in insults, asserting that Makinde's record positions him as a strong contender against a failing Tinubu presidency.
