Tinubu's Attacks on Makinde Reveal Election Jitters

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) stated that the recent attacks by the Federal Government on its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, reflect President Bola Tinubu's nervousness regarding Makinde's increasing popularity as the 2027 presidential election approaches. In a statement by APM's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party accused the Tinubu administration of resorting to name-calling due to its lack of a convincing record of achievements.

The APM asserted that Makinde would defeat Tinubu in the upcoming election. Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, had previously dismissed Makinde and the APM as inconsequential.

The APM criticized this response as indicative of the Tinubu Presidency's decline, emphasizing that it would not engage in insults but would focus on important issues for Nigerians. The statement highlighted Makinde's performance in transforming Oyo State into a leading economically viable state, suggesting that he could replicate this success nationally.
