APM Backs Makinde to Challenge Tinubu in 2027 Election

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has expressed confidence in Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as a viable candidate to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, the APM dismissed criticisms from the presidency, particularly remarks made by presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala, as indicative of the administration's anxiety regarding Makinde's rising popularity.

The APM argued that the presidency's focus on personal attacks rather than policy discussions reflects its apprehension about the upcoming election. The party contended that the 2027 election would be a contest primarily between Makinde and Tinubu, emphasizing that many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current government's performance.
