Tinubu Appoints Adedayo Laniyi as DG of Women Centre

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adedayo Laniyi as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development. This appointment is effective from April 18, 2026, and will last for a term of four years.

The decision was communicated through a letter signed by George Akum, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Government. The appointment aligns with the provisions of Section 7(1)(3) of the National Centre for Women Development Amendment Act 2023.

The governing council of the centre, chaired by Joan Jummai Idonij, includes members such as Loi Auta, Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiye, Jumok Okoya Thoma, and Ann Agom Ez. The President expressed his wishes for success to the new Director-General and the council in their roles at the centre, which aims to promote women's empowerment and gender equality in socio-economic development across Nigeria.
