Tinubu Approves New Police Academy Campus in Ogun State

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new campus for the Nigeria Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State. This initiative comes with a special grant of N15 billion to facilitate development.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President, who emphasized that the approval fulfills provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy Establishment Act of 2021. This act empowers the institution to operate multiple campuses across the country.

The funding will be sourced from the TETFund's 2026 allocation and will prioritize infrastructure, student accommodation, and core training assets for the new campus. A high-level consultative meeting involving the Minister of Police Affairs, the Minister of Education, and the Inspector General of Police will assess student intake capacity and ensure quality assurance for long-term training needs of the Nigerian Police Force.

The new Ogun State campus will be the first satellite campus established under the 2021 act, which aims to decentralize police education across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.
