Tinubu Approves N15 Billion Police Academy Campus in Ogun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new campus for the Nigeria Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State. This decision includes a special grant of N15 billion, aimed at fulfilling the provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy Establishment Act of 2021, particularly regarding the expansion of police academy facilities.

The funding will be sourced from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and is allocated for the 2026 financial year, prioritizing infrastructure development, student accommodation, and core training assets. High-level consultations involved the Minister of Police Affairs, the Minister of Education, Dr.

Tunji Alausa, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Inspector General of Police, and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC). The site selection for the new campus in Erinja was made considering the student intake capacity and the need to assure academic quality in the long term, addressing the current recruitment needs of the Nigerian Police Force.
