Tinubu Approves 65 New Ambassadors and High Commissioners

President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 new ambassadors and high commissioners, which includes 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career diplomats, to various countries and international organizations. This decision was announced by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agreements from the United Kingdom and France regarding the appointments.

The list of non-career ambassadors includes notable names such as Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany. The career ambassadors include Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d'Ivoire and Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, among others.

The Ministry will begin the induction program for the newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners immediately. The Senate is expected to confirm the ambassadorial appointments by December 2025, following the submission of names by the President for screening.
