Tinubu Urges Nigeria Revenue Service to Build Trust

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu charged the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) to earn the trust of Nigerians through fairness and accountability during a keynote address at the inauguration of the agency's new headquarters in Abuja. He highlighted the importance of transparency and equitable revenue administration in fostering confidence both at home and abroad.

The NRS, formerly known as the Federal Inland Revenue Service, was established following the passage of the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, which are part of Tinubu's broader fiscal policy and tax reform agenda. The agency's mandate has expanded beyond tax collection to include coordinating non-tax revenue services.

The new headquarters, a modern three-tower complex designed to accommodate 3,000 personnel, is part of the infrastructural requirements for modernizing Nigeria's fiscal administration. The event featured goodwill messages from Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Abba Tajudeen, among others.
