Tinubu Starts Three-Week Holiday Ahead of 2027 Campaign

On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for a three-week holiday in Europe, marking the beginning of his annual leave. His first destination is London, United Kingdom.

According to a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria to participate in the campaign for the January 2027 general election. This holiday follows his directive for a comprehensive forensic audit of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System and other federal agencies, which was issued just two days prior.

Additionally, it comes a week after the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council released a list naming Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as chairman and vice chairman, respectively. Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, stated that the leave is well-deserved after months of intense engagement with state matters and assured that governance would continue during his absence, with the President remaining engaged with key national decisions.
