Tinubu Commissions NNPCL/Sahara JV’s 40,000 CBM LPG Vessel in South Korea

President Bola Tinubu recently commissioned a 40,000 cubic metre Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) vessel, MT Iyaloja Lagos, in South Korea. The vessel is owned by WAGL Energy Limited, a joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Sahara Group.

The vessel is a fully refrigerated LPG carrier and is part of the WAGL fleet, which now has a combined capacity of 40,000 CBM. Tinubu praised NNPC and Sahara Group for their strategic foresight and technical excellence in strengthening Nigeria's role in the global clean energy transition.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, who emphasized the importance of the vessel in enhancing the availability and affordability of LPG nationwide. NNPC, a major shareholder in WAGL, sees the vessel as crucial for Nigeria's gas development program and economic growth.
