Tinubu Approves N15bn Grant for New Police Academy Campus

On Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the reconstitution of the Nigeria Police Academy Council and the establishment of a new campus in Ogun State, which will receive a grant of N15 billion. This initiative aims to enhance the training capacity of the Nigerian Police Force.

The council, which has been reconstituted to consist of 16 members, will be chaired by the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam. The council includes representatives from various sectors, such as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police, along with six members appointed to represent the country's geopolitical zones.

The appointed members include Babagana Zannah from the North East, Emmanuel Torkuma from the North Central, Maigari Abati Dikko from the North West, Dubem Obaz from the South East, Ajiboger Toyin from the South West, and Udom Udo Ekpoudom from the South South. The commandant of the academy, the provost, and the deputy inspector general of police will serve as ex-officio members, with the registrar acting as the council's secretary.
