Tinubu Celebrates Musiliu Smith's 80th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu extended his congratulations to former Inspector General of Police Musiliu Smith on the occasion of his 80th birthday, describing him as a distinguished officer whose career was marked by integrity and dedication to national service. The statement, issued on Friday by Tinubu's spokesman Bayo Onanuga, highlighted Smith's extensive career in the Nigeria Police Force, which began in 1972.

Smith rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including as an instructor at the Police College in Ikeja and later as the Inspector General of Police, a position he held from May 29, 1999. Tinubu commended Smith for his character, professional conduct, and the discipline he instilled during his tenure.

After retiring from active service in 2002, Smith continued to contribute to public service, notably serving as chairman of the Police Service Commission from 2018 until his resignation in 2022. Tinubu also acknowledged Smith's ongoing contributions to community service in Lagos State and wished him continued good health and a long life.
