Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Historic Re-election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election as the first governor in Ekiti State's history to win back-to-back elections. Oyebanji secured victory in the governorship election held on a Saturday, receiving 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Wole Oluyede of the People's Democratic Party, who garnered 40,543 votes.

Dare Bejid of the African Democratic Congress received 12,872 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results, with Prof.

Adenik Oladiji, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, declaring the final tally. Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti for their orderly conduct during the elections and praised the security agencies for maintaining law and order.

He emphasized the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections in future elections, including the Osun State governorship election in August 2027. Oyebanji's first term was noted for significant achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development.
