Kalu Congratulates Oyebanji on Ekiti Re-election Victory

On June 20, 2026, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji was declared the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), receiving 319,224 votes. His closest rival, Dr.

Wole Oluyede of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 40,543 votes, while Ambassador Dare Bejid of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 12,872 votes. Following the election results, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, extended his congratulations to Oyebanji, describing him as a "jinx breaker" for being the first governor to be re-elected for a consecutive term since the state's creation in 1996.

Kalu emphasized that Oyebanji's re-election reflects the people's collective will and urged him to continue improving service delivery, job opportunities for youth, healthcare access, road construction, and quality education across the 16 local government areas of the state. He also appreciated the peaceful conduct and massive voter turnout during the election.
