Tinubu Celebrates Nigeria's 15th African Wrestling Title

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Team Nigeria on their achievement of winning a record 15th African Wrestling title during the 2026 African Wrestling Championship held in Alexandria, Egypt. The Nigerian wrestlers excelled, securing 8 gold and 2 silver medals in the women's category, and a total of 9 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals across all categories.

Tinubu praised the athletes for their discipline and skill, specifically commending wrestlers such as Harrison Onovwiomogbhwo and others for their performances. He noted that this victory reflects a broader shift in Nigeria's sports ecosystem, emphasizing the need for structured preparation and long-term athlete development.
