APC Defends INEC 2027 Timetable Against ADC Claims

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to allegations from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) concerning the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) 2027 electoral timetable, asserting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not need manipulation to win re-election. APC spokesperson Steve Otaloro described the revised timetable as a product of careful planning, designed to provide political parties ample time to prepare and meet legal requirements.

The ADC had criticized the timetable, claiming it was crafted to favor Tinubu's second term. The new deadlines for the presidential and national assembly elections are set for January 16, 2027, and for the governorship and state assembly elections on February 6, 2027.

The APC welcomed reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening internal democracy within political parties. They dismissed allegations of partisanship by INEC, emphasizing that the commission operates within clearly defined parameters and does not act in favor of any political interest.
